Behind the kooky bling, beyond the menopausal obsession with tacky glitz and
over-the-edge purple, is a middle-aged mother of four, grandmother of two, who
describes herself as "just plain average."  With average fears. ("Maybe
above
average fears," jokes Ronna Snyder, award-winning author and speaker.)
Ordinary desires.  Dreams. Disappointments.  And denials. Yup,even regrets.
Lots of 'em, according to her. ("Ya got four kids? Ya got four ways to feel
guilty," says Ronna with trademark humor and candor.)

It is with that same candor that the North Idaho
resident muddles over issues common to women
in midlife in her breakout book, Hot Flashes from
Heaven, Help When Midlife and Menopause Meet
(forthcoming from Harvest House Publishers,
February, 2008).

Every day six thousand American women enter it.
"No, it’s not a day-spa.  Nor is it an outpatient clinic
for plastic surgery," explains Ronna.  "And it’s
certainly NOT optional---although there are many
options—mental, physical and spiritual--for dealing
with it."

It’s menopause---also known as “The Change of
Life”---for more reasons than one.  For many
women The Change comes unexpectedly,
sometimes earlier than 51 (the average age of
the body’s natural menopause), via the 600,000
hysterectomies performed in the United States each year. But for the rest of the
female gender, this unavoidable rite of mid-life passage sneaks slowly up in peri-
(pre)-menopause, the 6-month to ten-year span prior to the total cessation of
periods which marks official menopause. A whopping 33 million female baby
boomers are now entering or firmly entrenched in this bewildering stage of life.

"Hot Flashes from Heaven, which was written from an admittedly spiritually-edgy
standpoint, is for them," says Ronna. "And it lands smack dab at the top of the
surprisingly short list of book titles that dare to address the crash-point where
momma, midlife and menopause meet."

It's her own personal crash-point that Ronna shares with readers; the time when
cavernously-empty ovaries and nests collide with a cacophony of internal
questions.  "Who am I now that my children are gone? Do I have value? Am I still
attractive?  What are my passions?  Do they even exist? And who IS this man
I'm married to?"

"This 'Perfect Storm' of home, health, hearth, heartbreak and hormones that's
called menopause has also been dubbed The Change of Life.  For more reasons
than one," writes Ronna.  What brings peace, power and, yes, even plucky
pleasure to the woman racked with emotionally charged questions so painfully
complex that she barely knows how to voice them?

Ronna Snyder shares her own heaven-inspired and earthly-practical insights
called Hot Flashes from Heaven that helped her excavate her way through the
muck of menopause and midlife.
